For over 25 years, Todd Jantzi has been a dedicated auctioneer and real estate professional. He began his career at Bontrager Real Estate & Auction Service where he is now owner and president. In 2009 he earned his real estate broker’s license. An active member of the New York State Auctioneer’s Association, Todd served as president of that organization from 2020 – 2022 and was selected as Auctioneer of the Year in 2016. He is a graduate of SUNY Brockport with a degree in History. Todd lives in Batavia, NY with his wife, Sandra. They have two grown sons and two grandchildren. In his spare time, he enjoys raising beef cattle. One of his most prized auction memories is asking his wife to marry him during a charity fundraiser auction. He lives by a quote from his mentor, Al Bontrager (from whom he learned the auction business): "Do it right the first time."
Sandra, a co-owner of Bontrager's, has been dedicated to the company since 2011. She holds degrees from SUNY Albany and Syracuse University. Sandra manages auction setup, marketing, website/technology, and office administration. She enjoys acquiring new skills and devising effective solutions to everyday challenges. Beyond work, Sandra cherishes time with her family, writing, and staying active with workouts (she holds a black belt in Karate). Sandra values the relationships built within the Bontrager team and especially the special moment of getting engaged at a fundraiser auction. She draws inspiration from Jocko Willink's words: “Get up and get after it.”
Zak grew up in the auction industry and has worked at Bontrager's since he could walk. He started running clerking sheets at live auctions as a child and now bid calls, catalogs, and manages pick up crews. After working elsewhere for a bit, Zak is now a full-time auctioneer for Bontrager's. When he's not working, Zak enjoys spending time with his wife, running, and hiking. He holds a degree in History from Roberts Wesleyan University, where he competed in Division II Track and Cross Country.
Dylan leads auction setup teams and organizes, catalogs, photographs, and videos auction lots. A few of the great abilities he brings to Bontrager's include a drive for precision and his knowledge of firearms. Dylan is a dedicated team leader with a great eye for finding tasks that need to be done. His favorite aspects of the auction business are the people he works with and finding unusual and exciting items for auction.
Kayla does a whole lot of everything at Bontrager's, including answering phones, scheduling, shipping, auction setup and cataloging. She's used to multi-tasking, having worked as a nanny for 3 boys under the age of 4, and a convenience store manager before coming to Bontrager's. She's a great cook and enjoys being outside with her family and dogs. Her favorite quote: "It's not a bad day, just a bad moment. You can turn it around anytime."
Lynn lists and sells real estate, specializing in country property. She's worked for Bontrager Real Estate & Auction Service for over 30 years and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the field. One of the favorite parts of Lynn's job is the people she meets. She believes every client's needs are special and every property is one of a kind.
Abby is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan University where she participated in Division II Cross Country and Track, and competed at the national level. So it's no surprise when she lists running as something she's good at. She also enjoys hiking, kayaking and just being outdoors. A more diligent worker would be hard to find; she puts her full focus on any task she's given. Her favorite quote is from Corrie TenBoom: "If you look at the world, you'll be distressed. If you look within, you'll be depressed. If you look at God, you'll be at rest."
Faith remembers attending Bontrager's Auctions as a child when it was held in the old barn and Al Bontrager was the auctioneer. She brings tons of experience in inventory, warehouse, customer service and management. When she's not cataloging an auction, Faith enjoys baking cookies, working in her gardens, or raising goats and caring for her mini-horse. Her work ethic and easygoing personality make her a great addition to our team. Faith's favorite quote: You are braver than you seem and smarter than you think."
Kay is an expert in the auction field. She has experience running estate sales and has participated in many live and online auctions. She's an asset to any work site because of her vast knowledge base and experience. She tackles every new task with enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoys sorting and organizing auction merchandise with her trained eye. One of her favorite things is finding interesting or unusual pieces to sell and she often helps educate our staff regarding auction pieces.
Mary Lou previously managed a trucking business, and worked as administrative assistant for Bontrager Real Estate & Auction Service when the real estate office was located in Alden, NY. Now she's semi-retired but still lends her expertise with bookkeeping and other administrative tasks. She says the best thing about her job is the great comradery she has with the rest of the staff.
Joe owned and operated his own drapery & upholstery business in Harrisburg, PA before moving to Western NY to be closer to family. He has become an indispensable and well-liked part of the Bontrager Auction team. Joe always has a friendly word and he brings his experience and wisdom to daily work situations. He oversees the maintenance of our buildings and assists with auction setup and dispersal.
Cal has grown up in the auction industry and knows his way around an auction. He began working at Bontrager's as a child, running clerking sheets, and now manages pick up crews and has done some bid calling. Although he works full time for the Air Force National Guard, he still works with the family business part time. He assists with pick ups, dispersals, and cataloging in evenings and on days off. Cal enjoys running, skiing, cycling and spending time with his wife and two children.
Jack is currently a student at Daemon University and works with us during breaks. Jack is a gifted artist in design and animation. He says he enjoys the positive work environment at Bontrager's and is learning about problem solving skills that will come in handy throughout his life. When he's not working or creating artwork, he enjoys walking his dogs, watching motorsports, reading, music, and eating chicken parm. Jack learns quickly and is a huge help to our team at a time when we are ramping up for a busy summer. His quick wit keeps us laughing and we love having him on the team.
John is most known for his amazing art. He's a recent graduate of Daemon University where he competed in Division II Track and Cross Country. His artistic skill takes him to conferences and shows and he has even created comic book covers. When he's not drawing or running you can find John taking pictures, cataloging, loading and unloading auction merchandise. One thing he's learned at Bontrager's is how the auction industry has changed over the years and the importance of staying on trend. John has been working with us since his college days and his favorite Bontrager memory was being part of the Bontrager team that won the GLOW Corporate Cup in 2022.
